Description
Born in 1952, in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra was a human rights activist whose investigation uncovered the disappearance, custodial torture and extrajudicial killing of over 25,00 Sikh men and women by the Punjab Police from 1987 to 1993; and the chilling fact that the state had conducted secret cremations, illegally burning thousands of “unidentified bodies”.
